Authentic Venetian Commedia dell'Arte mask of the character Zanni, one of the stock characters in the Commedia dell'Arte.
Zanni was a poor older man hired as a servant by one of the other characters. Typically Pantalone.
Zanni later came to mean a whole range of comic servant characters.
This Zanni mask has been hand crafted in Venice using ancient paper mache techniques. It has a red white and gold traditional Harlequin design.
The mask has a very long scooped nose.
Zanni mask secures with ribbon ties.
